84th Meeting of CIS Railway Transport Council Held in Ashkhabad

On May 13-14, 2026, the 84th meeting of the Council for Railway Transport of the CIS Member States took place in Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan.

 

The meeting was attended by:

  • members of the Council: plenipotentiary representatives of the railway administrations of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan;
  • associate members of the Council: representatives of the railway administrations of Georgia, Iran, Latvia, and Estonia. 

Representatives from the Directorate of the Council for Railway Transport of the CIS Member States and The International Trade Unions Confederation of Railway Workers also participated in the meeting.

The participants considered 10 items, including:

  • the status of implementation of the Decision of the CIS Council of Heads of Government of October 18, 1996, on the Concept for Establishing a Coordinated Tariff Policy for Railway Transport in the CIS Member States (in Russian);
  • the status of mutual settlements between railway administrations in 2025 and in the first quarter of 2026;
  • train schedule standards for 2026/2027;
  • the results of 2025 container census;
  • the draft Concept for the Development of the International Railway Transport Corridors.

Following the meeting, a message to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow was sent.

The 85th meeting of the Council for Railway Transport of the CIS Member States is scheduled to be held in the second half of 2026.
