On May 14, 2026, the 92nd meeting of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops took place in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by delegations from:
- nine border agencies (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan);
- the CIS Executive Committee;
- the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops;
- the Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS Member States;
- the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the CIS Member States;
- the Coordination Council of the International Union of Public Associations of Border Service Veterans (Pensioners);
- the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the situation on the external borders of the CIS member states and its development trends, as well as issues related to multilateral border cooperation and the implementation of a coordinated border policy. They also considered the role of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops in implementing the CIS Programme of Cooperation in Countering Terrorism and Extremism for 2026–2028.
Following the meeting, additional measures were developed to further strengthen border security along the external borders of the CIS and expand multilateral cooperation in this area.
