We received with deep condemnation and sorrow the tragic news of the horrific act of aggression committed by ukrainian nationalists against Belarussian children in the Bryansk Region.
On the eve of the 85th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, when millions of children became victims of inhumane aggression, we are once again witnessing the lives of civilians, especially children, being placed at risk. History teaches us that such crimes must not be repeated. We firmly believe that peace and security of children are our shared responsibility.
The particular cynicism of this crime is the fact that the strike was deliberately carried out against a clearly identified civilian vehicle transporting children to a holiday destination. A targeted attack against defenseless civilians cannot be justified under any circumstances and constitutes a grave violation of the norms of international humanitarian law and the principles of humanity.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, as well as to the leadership and people of the Republic of Belarus, and wish a speedy recovery to all children and adults injured.
