An expert group meeting to finalize the draft Regulations on the Outstanding Media Worker of the Commonwealth of Independent States Badge and the corresponding draft decisions of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and the CIS Heads of Government Council was held at the Commonwealth’s headquarters on June 26.
The meeting, conducted via videoconference, was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.
Following the discussions, the participants reached a common position on the financing arrangements for the production of the badge and its accompanying certificate. The draft documents and decisions of the supreme bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States on this matter were revised and approved.
The meeting materials will shortly be submitted for domestic approval procedures in the member states and will subsequently be presented, in accordance with the established procedure, to the CIS Heads of Government Council.

In September 2022, a regular joint meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council and Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Organizations and the Administrative Council of the Interstate Information Pool supported the initiative of the Republic of Tajikistan to establish the Outstanding Media Worker of the Commonwealth of Independent States award.
The establishment of the badge is intended to strengthen the common information space and cooperation among the CIS member states in the development of the media and to recognize outstanding achievements in television and radio broadcasting.
The badge is expected to be awarded to citizens of the CIS member states, as well as citizens of states granted Observer status and/or Partner status in the CIS, including workers of media administrative bodies, television and radio organizations, and newsrooms who significantly contributed to the development and improvement of television and radio broadcasting, achieved outstanding results in professional activities, performed their official duties with distinction, and actively promoted integration within the Commonwealth.
According to the draft design, the badge will be circular with a relief surface and will feature a television and radio tower at its center, surrounded by the CIS Outstanding Media Worker inscription.
