On July 2, 2026, a delegation of the CIS Executive Committee led by CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexander Garden in Moscow, marking the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus and the 82nd anniversary of the country’s liberation from the German fascist invaders.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation Yuri Seliverstov laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin Wall in honor of Independence Day. The solemn ceremony was attended by the State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation, the Permanent Committee of the Union State, other integration bodies, the Russian Foreign Ministry, parliamentarians, Belarusian and Russian diplomats, representatives of the Belarusian diaspora and public organizations.
The рarticipants of the solemn memorial ceremony also laid flowers at the memorial signs “Hero City Minsk” and “Brest Hero Fortress”, installed on the Avenue of Hero Cities in Alexander Garden. The ceremony concluded with a solemn march of the guard of honor company accompanied by a military orchestra.
