Protocol on Amending Convention on Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases Enters into Force

Оn July 7, 2026, the Protocol on Amending the Convention on Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases of October 7, 2002, signed on June 26, 2025, entered into force.

The main purpose of the amendments is to ensure in the territories of the State Parties to the Protocol the mutual recognition and enforcement of court orders (rulings on a court order) on the exaction of alimony for underaged children, issued in warrant proceedings.

The amendments to the Convention are expected to allow for unimpeded recovery of alimony in the territories of other CIS Member States based not only on court decisions but also on court orders, as well as to broaden cooperation in the field of international legal aid.

The Protocol was drafted by the CIS Ministers of Justice Council on the initiative of the Kyrgyz Republic.
