T.N. Moskalkova, Chair of the CIS Human Rights Commission and the Russian Federation Commissioner for Human Rights presented a report on the activities of the CIS Human Rights Commission at the Commonwealth of Independent States Summit in Dushanbe. The document reflects the key results of the Commission in 2023–2025.
The CIS Human Rights Commission, which began its work in November 2023, has established effective cooperation among the CIS HRC member states representatives on various human rights issues. It organized an equal human rights dialogue based on mutual respect and consideration of the CIS member states cultural and historical development, and demonstrated a shared desire to promote and protect human rights in the Commonwealth by all available means.
T.N. Moskalkova noted that during the reporting period, Commission members visited the member countries, with a special attention to places of detention. They interviewed the individuals held in these facilities, and solved their problems.
The Commission facilitated the exchange of experience between national human rights institutions, the implementation of joint initiatives, and the promotion of human rights principles in the CIS.
The Commission has issued six analytical reviews based on the results of legislation and law enforcement practices monitoring.
