Current Areas of Cooperation in Field of Education within CIS

Within the Commonwealth, cooperation in education is a priority area, occupying a significant place as the foundation for the prosperity and well-being of future generations of the CIS member states.

Among the large-scale and significant events held in the Commonwealth's educational space, notable are the congresses of teachers and educators of the CIS member states, held regularly since 2010.

Work is currently underway to implement the Resolution of the VIII Congress, held on October 3–4, 2024, in Yerevan. Preparations are going for the IX Congress, scheduled for October 2026 in Minsk, as well as for the IV International Festival of Pedagogical Excellence.

The CIS Network University project continues to develop. As of early 2026, 48 universities from seven CIS countries participated in the project. Specialists are being trained in 37 master's degree programs.

Comprehensive support is provided to the activities of 18 key CIS organizations in the field of education.

Vectors of cooperation have been identified for the Commonwealth's 35th anniversary. Numerous educational projects are planned.

A unifying vector of cooperation is the support and promotion of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication in the CIS. The results of the Pushkin Institute's research on the global competitiveness of the Russian language and the sustainability of its position in the post-Soviet countries are highly sought after in the CIS countries, enabling informed decisions on public policy in supporting the Russian language.

Thus, the successful development of multilateral cooperation among the CIS member states in education facilitates the implementation of national public policies in this area, opens up new opportunities for integration and partnership, and creates favorable conditions for strengthening friendly relations and broad interaction between the states and peoples of the Commonwealth.
