Upon the invitation of the Republic of Armenia, the Observer Mission from the Commonwealth of Independent States (hereinafter – the Mission) monitored the preparation and conduct of the elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia (hereinafter – the elections).
The elections were scheduled for June 7, 2026, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia.
The Mission began monitoring the election campaign on May 18, 2026, operated freely and independently, guided by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, documents adopted within the Commonwealth, observing the principle of non‑interference in the electoral process and respecting the sovereignty of the state.
The Mission comprised 121 accredited observers from the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States and the CIS Executive Committee. Eight observers worked on a long‑term basis. The Mission Headquarters, located in Yerevan, coordinated the observers’ activities.
During the election monitoring, Head of the CIS Observer Mission Nurlan Seitimov held meetings with Chairman of the Central Election Commission Vagn Hovakimyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Abisogomonyan, and visited territorial and precinct election commissions in Armavir Region and the city of Yerevan.
The Mission representatives discussed the progress of the election campaign with the leadership of the Central Election Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Administrative Court, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Television and Radio Commission of the Republic of Armenia. Meetings were held with the election headquarters of a number of political parties and blocs of political parties.
The Mission’s work was open and transparent. The Mission Headquarters issued press releases on the progress of election monitoring and gave interviews to media representatives.

The Commonwealth of Independent States Observer Mission concludes that the June 7, 2026, elections:
were held in accordance with the Constitution and Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia;
were multi-party, open, and competitive.
