Activities Results of CIS Sectoral Cooperation Bodies in Legal Sphere in 2025

The results of the activities of the CIS sectoral cooperation bodies in the legal sphere in 2025 indicate that they have successfully fulfilled the tasks assigned to them.

The legal cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States is carried out through a system of specialized bodies and mechanisms that ensure the coordination among the CIS member states, facilitate the best practices exchange, and promote the national legislations harmonization.

Within the Commonwealth of Independent, the following bodies operate in the legal sphere:

  • Three statutory bodies: the CIS Human Rights Commission, the CIS Economic Court, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States;
  • Two sectoral cooperation bodies: the Council of Heads of Supreme (High) Courts of the CIS Member States and the Council of Ministers of Justice of the CIS Member States;
  • The Commission of Children’s Rights Commissioners (Ombudsmen) of the CIS Member States;
  • The Advisory Committee of Heads of Legal Services of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the CIS Member States.

In addition, the CIS basic organizations operating in various areas of cooperation, including the legal cooperation, play an important role in strengthening cooperation among the CIS member states.
