An additional meeting of the CIS expert group on finalizing and coordinating the draft Programme for the Implementation of the Concept for the Formation of a Common (Shared) Educational Space of the Commonwealth of Independent States for the period 2027-2035 took place at the CIS headquarters on June 5, 2026.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.
The participants discussed proposals submitted by the member-states regarding the draft Programme and, following the review, finalized and coordinated the draft document.
It was decided to submit the materials of the additional meeting to the Commonwealth states for further internal coordination. Following this procedure, the draft document will be submitted for consideration to the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and the CIS Heads of Government Council.
The development of the draft Programme is carried out in compliance with the decision of the Council for Cooperation in Education of the CIS member states of November 15, 2023. The decision was adopted following an inventory of the CIS legal framework in the sphere of education.
The draft document envisages actions aimed at improving the CIS cooperation mechanisms in the sphere of education. In particular, it refers to the development of harmonized regulatory frameworks and the utilization of scientific, technological, and educational potential of national education systems. Special attention is paid to the coordination of approaches to the training and certification of scientific and teaching personnel.
In addition, the Programme provides for actions to strengthen cooperation among the states in implementing the principle of inclusion in education, improving systems of monitoring and quality assurance of vocational education, further developing cooperation in distance learning through the use of digital technologies and data analytics, including artificial intelligence, as well as creating multimedia educational programmes.
