Integration in the military sphere within the Commonwealth of Independent States is developing across all major areas – from planning to conducting specific combat operations during exercises, joint operational and combat training events, comprehensive drills, and training-methodology gatherings, CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The Secretary-General noted that the main goals of military cooperation among the CIS member states for the medium term are to coordinate joint efforts in priority areas that contribute to strengthening national armed forces and the safe development of the Commonwealth.
Sergey Lebedev stated that the Military Cooperation Concept until 2030 envisages the qualitative improvement of mechanisms for creating and developing joint (integrated) military-purpose systems. Specifically, it is planned to ensure development of:
- the unified air defense system;
- the joint communications system;
- the unified system for monitoring and assessing the CBRN (radiological, chemical, and biological) situation;
- the unified radar identification system;
- the unified military-purpose geoinformation system for the armed forces.
